#44, Tête de Cochon Sandwich, Resto
Another rainy, blustering sandwich day yesterday. Tête de cochon is actually pig’s head meat, and the majority of the items on the menu involved pork in some way (the special yesterday was a pork stuffed with pork sausage). I really liked the meat, and thoroughly enjoyed the spicy slaw on the sandwich. It was basically a pulled pork sandwich dressed up, but I loved it. It was just the right balance between being adventurous and being comfort food.
I also really dug the restaurant. It had a chill wooden vibe, and the entire time we were there they just played The Rolling Stones. I’d go back and try something else on the menu, or maybe get the same sandwich. Either way I don’t doubt that I’d be satisfied.

This felt like a very nice, civilized, not too fancy lunch. I feel like so far, we’ve had a lot of super not fancy places (Milk Truck, Bahni Mi Saigon) and a lot of high end places (Ma Peche, Locanda Verde), but not many in the middle (maybe only Pearl Oyster Bar?), but Resto is definitely right in the middle, which added to its comfortable menu and overall experience.
The sandwich was very rich, but there was an awesome spiciness that helped cut through some of that. The meat in the sandwich reminded me of something that would be great as a kind of breakfast hash with some potatoes and eggs. The bread was lightly toasted, it held up well to the fats in the meat. I usually like a bit more tartness/ vinegar/ pickle taste on sandwiches like this, but the spice totally did the job. Warm, homey, delicious.
