#43- Bacon, Lettuce, Egg Sandwich- The BKLYN Larder
As many of my friends know, I am a terribly picky eater, so to say that I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t like this and would be the first person to eat something from this list and not enjoy it, would be an understatement. That being said, I absolutely loved this sandwich and its restaurant.
The place is a small, but has a little area for eating and has a great selection of seasonal treats (such as pumpkin whoopie pie and caramel apples) as well as beer, bread, meat, and of course, cheese.
The sandwich itself was a perfect weekend treat. The lettuce was dressed slightly with a very understated vinaigrette dressing which being laid next to the crispy bacon, made for a great salty acidic treat to go with the hard boiled eggs. I would definitely recommend this sandwich to anyone who wants a great brunch sandwich at a cool place.

PS: I’m fully aware that I probably could have used a cue card…so shut up.
This was both our first guest-first biter and our first weekend trip, and both of those firsts were successful. I thought the bread was toasted to perfection, and thought that the sandwich was a great balance of crunchy (bread, bacon) and not-crunchy (egg, lettuce). The egg was very well-seasoned, and the size of the sandwich as a whole was pretty good.
I thought this sandwich was fantastic and I’d definitely get it again.
This was a great first-weekender. Eating it felt like a complete taste of brunch. I wasn’t expecting the lettuce to be dressed in a light vinaigrette, but having that extra bit of zip in there made a huge difference, contrasting with the egg and bacon. I was also expecting the egg to be fried and runny, instead of hardboiled and sliced. I love a good runny egg, but the choice they made to hard boil and slice was the right one for this sandwich, making it a much cleaner, more manageable experience, with more distinct, individual flavors. I hadn’t been to BKLYN Larder before this trip, even though it’s about 20 minutes from my house. I got a sandwich punch card, and if I don’t lose the damn thing, I’ll be enjoying the 10th for free in no time.
