#39, Egg and Cheese, Prime Meats
The egg and cheese from Prime Meats actually made me wish I was hung over.
You can order the sandwich on your choice of breads- we went with with biscuit, and with your choice of meats- we went with the sausage.
The resulting order looked like a small, super tall hamburger, that neither of us could really take a proper bite out of. And man, it was delicious. The biscuit was flaky and buttery, the cheese was melty and warm, the sausage was juicy and flavorful, and the egg was huge, fluffy and fresh.
This sandwich was a real ode to it’s contents. They talk about this thing on a lot of food shows- “Let the ingredients sing.” This one did exactly that. This is one kind of sandwich that you can really get anywhere- McDonalds, your corner deli, any brunch or breakfast place, but the thing that makes one better than the other is the quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation. This was a sausage, egg and cheese that will make it very difficult to enjoy any other version for a long, long time.
I ate almost the whole thing (couldn’t finish the whole biscuit), and was uncomfortably full and could hardly stay awake for the entire hour long train ride back to Manhattan.
